MEET TAYSIA SMITH

Hi my name is Taysia Smith! I am 19 years old and a sophomore at Southern Utah University. I am studying Political Science with minors in Communications and Legal Studies. After graduating with my degree, it is my intention to attend law school.

I grew up in the Woods Cross, UT which is in the North Salt Lake area. I graduated from Bountiful High School in 2020.

Outside of cooking, my hobbies include going to the carwash, karaoke, nature walks, hammocking, and reading. I also love to hang out with friends and watch TV shows together.

I LOVE cooking! I grew up in a household where I would help in the kitchen with my parents from a very young age. By the time I was 13 I could make simple meals like soup, tacos, and baked casseroles on my own. By the time I got to high school I could make just about anything on my own and often prepared meals for my family by myself. It was from there that a passion for cooking began.

When I moved into my first college apartment at the start of 2021 I learned that many other students did not have the confidence to cook the way I did. My roommates would be astonished that I could make homemade Fettuccini Alfredo or baked salmon.

Cooking Like You're Not in College was created to help teach fellow students how to cook better food for themselves on a budget. It is my goal to help students gain confidence in the kitchen which is a skill that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
